[NaturalNews] We’ve all heard the jokes about stress turning our hair grey, and everyone understands that stress feels uncomfortable and can cause short term health and psychological issues. However, there was never any conclusive proof that chronic stress could actually shorten your life span by accelerating the aging process until recently.
Stress actually damages your DNA
New research indicates that chronic stress like the kind we experience in high stress occupations actually erodes and damages critical parts of our DNA over time. This damage and erosion can increase our odds of living a shorter life span.
The study showed that those under chronic stress exhibited shortened telomeres. Telomeres are the protective edges that bind the ends of DNA strands together. The damage of these telomeres leads to errors in how the DNA instructs cells to behave, so their length is directly tied to our longevity.
The shortening and damage of these mechanisms leads to a heightened potential for mutations in otherwise healthy cells and genes. When our genetic code and transmission is broken, it means our bodies have a higher likelihood of cancer and other life shortening diseases and generally poor health.
The evidence shows that stress can actually shorten your life span by as much as four to eight years depending on how you handle it and your genetic predispositions and general health. Exercise and a healthy diet can help offset some of the damage done by stress, but chronic and heavy stress is a hard thing to completely overcome by lifestyle alone.
Stress makes you sick
Not only does stress facilitate damaged DNA and shorten life spans. It can also literally make you get sick a lot more often than you should. Studies have shown that it also damages the chromosomes and mechanisms responsible for the health and functionality of your immune system.
When our immune system is compromised, it’s easy to catch every little virus that comes along. It also makes it harder for our bodies to fight off disease and cancer since our immune cells are our front line defense against all things unhealthy.

People with mild, subclinical levels of psychological distress are 29 percent more likely to have an early death due to health or injury-related reasons than are those without distress, according to new British research. Researchers studied mental health surveys given to 68,000 adult participants in addition to their mortality data. Of scrutinized individuals, those with psychological distress—even mild anxiety—had a greater risk of dying prematurely.
Participants with highest levels of psychological distress were 41 percent more likely to die from cancer or related complications. Causes of early death were not limited to poor coping methods or hypertension and heart disease, as is conventionally believed, however.
Early Death and the Biological Responses to Distress
Individuals in high-stress environments often cope in unhealthy ways—with poor eating habits, alcoholism, drug abuse, sedentary lifestyles, and the like. Study author Dr. David Batty of the University College London, however, factored in these elements and found unchanged results. He claims that the increased mortality in his study “is not simply due to people with higher levels of psychological distress having poor health behaviors.”
So, how can psychological distress shorten your life? Researchers believe stress may trigger biological changes in the body, making them prone to diabetes and heart disease. Fatty plaques in already narrow arteries may rupture due to spikes in adrenaline and other stress-related chemicals in the body, leading to stroke or heart attacks.
In another recent study, Harvard-affiliated Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston found that accelerated aging could be a result of chronic anxiety due to faster shortening of the telomere, which has been linked to DNA changes possibly contributing to other chronic diseases like cancer and dementia.
Stress Can Increase Accident-Related Deaths
What’s more, raised anxiety levels and mental disquiet were associated with non-health-related causes like accidents and injuries. Dr. Christopher Cove of University of Rochester Medical Center in NY says that psychological distress can distract people—even in everyday situations like driving home from the office—and lead them to untimely ends.
The Quiet Killer
Individuals with blatantly high stress levels can modify their lifestyles and seek emotional therapy, but those with mild psychological distress—about a quarter of the adult population according to Dr. Tom Russ of the University of Edinburgh in Scotland—will show limited symptoms and not receive treatment.
Everyone can benefit from a healthy diet, moderate exercise, and stress management skills. The next time a friend has a Groupon for a yoga class, you might want to take him or her up on it, as yoga for depression and anxiety is just one strategy for de-stressing and avoiding early death.

[NaturalNews] Imagine living life without (chronic) unwarranted fear and never having to experience degenerative disease. This is NOT just a silly idea – it’s reality for many people throughout the world. Epidemiological studies prove that the longest living (happy) people remain connected to the earth and thrive on whole, natural foods – filled with nutrients but low in calories.
Experience the life of your dreams! Eating spirulina, chlorella, goji berries, chaga mushrooms and ashwagandha can balance blood sugars, boost the immune system and help detoxify unwanted poisons from the body. Don’t miss the next NaturalNews Talk Hour for one of the most informative and inspirational (nutritional) programs of the year!
What’s the difference between spirulina and chlorella?
While both are considered “micro-algaes” – spirulina and chlorella are not the same. But, without getting too caught up in the details, both of these superfoods can out perform just about any other food on earth. When consumed on a daily basis – these foods have tremendous healing potential.
Spirulina is very high in vitamin B12, B-complex, iron, essential trace minerals, beta-carotene and gamma-linolenic acid. It is the richest source of natural antioxidants of any whole food and it has more concentrated vegetable nutrition than any other whole food.
Chlorella is a green single-celled micro algae that contains the highest concentrations of chlorophyll known (60 mg/serving). It has high levels of beta-carotene, vitamin B12, iron, RNA and DNA and protein. Chlorella is well-known for its ability to help remove heavy metals from the intestinal tract. Discover how these foods (plus many more) can help transform your life!

New research on the DNA-damaging effects of the popular herbicide known as Roundup® indicates that it can do significant harm to fish even after short-term, environmentally low concentration exposures in the parts per billion range (μg /L).[i]
Published this month (July, 2012) in the journal Environmental Monitoring and Assessmentsresearchers set out to evaluate the genotoxic effects that the herbicide Roundup®, and its primary ingredient glyphosate, can have on a species of catfish known as Corydorasa paleatus. When exposed to minute concentrations of Roundup (at a concentration of 6.67 μg/L, corresponding to 3.20 μg/L glyphosate) for 3,6 and 9 days, the following effects were observed: “[T]he comet assay showed a high rate of DNA damage in group exposed to Roundup(®) for all treatment times, both for blood and hepatic cells.” The researchers summarized their findings:
We conclude that for the low concentration used in this research, the herbicide shows potential genotoxic effects. Future research will be important in evaluating the effects of this substance, whose presence in the environment is ever-increasing.
First, it is very important to understand how low a μg /L or parts per billion concentration is. One way to visualize it is to think of one drop in one billion drops of water, or what amounts to one drop of water in an entire swimming pool.[ii]
Owing to the fact that glyphosate is now a ubiquitous contaminant in our environment, having beenfound in most U.S. air and rain samples tested,[iii] as well as being measured beyond the limit of quantification (higher than 2.5 ug/L) in 41% of 140 groundwater samples collected from Catalonia Spain, this new finding has profound implications for environmental and human health alike. With over 88,000 tons of the stuff used in the US in 2007, according to the USGS, and with an ever-expanding volume being applied to increasingly glyphosate-resistant GM crops, the problem of exposure is only going to get worse in the future – that is, if we continue to support the growth of glyphosate-dependent GM crop industries.
Monsanto, the originator of glyphosate and its most popular branded formulation, Roundup®, once marketed their herbicide “as safe as table salt,” and claimed it was “highly biodegradable.” These claims have now been disproved. Like Agent Orange, another Monsanto co-creation (along with Dow Chemicals, and several other government contractors), this herbicide exhibits a broad range of biocidal (life-killing) properties. (Note: the concept of a “weedkiller” is absurd. These chemicals do not selectively kill only targeted plants. Also, a “weed” is simply a plant whose virtues we have yet discovered [Emerson], or which is encroaching on a plant we favor).

In the effort of the global Elite to rewire human DNA and alter the very structure of our genome, vaccines designed to alter our brain functions have emerged into the mainstream medical community.
The transhumanist agenda seeks to:
- Control who has the right to life through the application of eugenics
- Control reproduction of the general population with sterilization campaigns, contraception and abortion
- Identify disabilities that can be “enhanced” with implants, prosthetics, RFID chips genetic engineering and modifications
- Scientific-based experimentation into life-extension therapies
- Rewiring of the brain with pharmaceuticals, psychoactive drugs and RFID chips
Organizations like Humanity+ seeks “the continuation and acceleration of the evolution of intelligent life beyond its currently human form and human limitations by means of science and technology, guided by life-promoting principles and values.”
They are “an international nonprofit membership organization which advocates the ethical use of technology to expand human capacities.”
In their Transhumanist Declaration , they assert:
- Using technology to “broaden human potential” by overcoming aging and “cognitive shortcomings”
- Provide forums where globalist scientist and researchers can “deliberate how [to enhance humanity through science] to expedite beneficial applications”
- Facilitate “social order, improve human foresight and wisdom” through genetic enhancement
- Influence policymakers to include the transhumanist “responsible and moral vision”
