The makers of neonicotinoids, the bee-killing insecticide that was banned all over Europe, won’t be able to refute this latest phenomenon. Millions of bees were found dead after GMO corn was planted in Ontario, Canada. This isn’t new news, but it should be known news.
The keeper of these bees, Dave Schuit, who produces honey, reported that he lost over 600 hives – around 37 million bees.
“Once the corn started to get planted our bees died by the millions,” Schuit said.
With increasing bee deaths and consumer petitions targeted to places like Home Depot and Lowe’s who sell neonics, the US Department of Agriculture has failed to ban neonicotinoids, manufactured primarily by Bayer CropScience Inc., as well as other biotech companies.
Two of Bayer’s best sellers are suspect this time around: Imidacloprid and Clothianidin. They are both known to seep into pollen and nectar, damaging beneficial insects such as bees.
The more widely they are used, the more bees seem to die.
Schuit’s report of dead bees is corroborated by other farmers, too. Nathan Carey is another local farmer who noticed a disappearance of bees on his farm this past Spring. There were so few that he could not count on them as he normally did to help pollinate his crops. He correlates their absence to the use of these toxic insecticides.
While many scientists are still unconvinced that “colony collapse disorder” (CCD) is caused by neonicotinoids, there has been a consecutive die-off of bees in the U.S. for seven years now – directly correlated to higher insecticide spraying.
Even US scientists have found 121 different pesticides in samples of bees, wax and pollen, lending credence to the notion that pesticides are in fact a problem.

Biotech Covers Up GMO Devastation Of Farmland
The European Association for bio-industries, EuropaBio, wants you to believe that “GM crops can protect soils from erosion through less ploughing, conserving soil moisture, too. GM herbicide tolerant crops reduce the need to plough fields in preparation for planting crops. This saves fuel because less tilling is necessary. GM insect resistant crops require less treatments with insecticides, which also decreases the need for tractor use.” But these statements are completely false.
This is essentially the requisite lie told by all of biotech – including:
- Monsanto – Known for creating or helping to create 13 highly carcinogenic and toxic products including saccharin, PCBs, Polystyrene, DDT, the atom bomb, nuclear weapons, dioxin, Agent Orange, Petroleum based fertilizers, Round Up, rGBH, aspartame, GMOs, and terminator seeds. Monsanto sues everyone to keep dealing their dirty products, but the most recent suit, involving Dustin Barca, a surfer-turned mixed martial arts fighter in Hawaii is of special note. He is taking it personally that Monsanto poisons him, and bringing activism to a new level.
- Dow Chemical Company (also Union Carbide) – This wonderful company helped toreleased methyl isocyanate and other chemicals in 1984 by their pesticide plant in Bhopal, India, causing one of the worst industrial disasters in history. They are also one of the five corporationscompletely dominating the seed market, making food sovereignty precarious for farmers and families around the world. Along with three other companies they also helped to create Dibromochloropropane (DBCP), a known carcinogen, reproductive toxin, and endocrine disruptor that contaminates ground water. They continued to produce and sell DBCP even after it was banned due to strong evidence linking the chemical to sterility.
- Syngenta – Known for suing Kaui’i County when they wanted to keep herbicide and pesticide spraying away from their school children, homes and hospitals, and also for covering up the true toxicity of Atrazine. This company has also been implicated with colony collapse disorder, killing off our bees, and other important pollinators.

NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory has sounded a stark warning over California’s sustained drought, publishing its latest findings where satellite surveys show a rapidly depleting groundwater supply.
And with California as the United States’ most valuable agricultural state, and thus key to America’s food supply (and much of the world’s as well) that could mean drastic consequences for food commodity prices and potential shortages.
The Nature Climate Change journal carried the report, which Think Progress summarized:
A new Nature Climate Change piece, “The global groundwater crisis,” by James Famiglietti, a leading hydrologist at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, warns that “most of the major aquifers in the world’s arid and semi-arid zones, that is, in the dry parts of the world that rely most heavily on groundwater, are experiencing rapid rates of groundwater depletion.”
The groundwater at some of the world’s largest aquifers — in the U.S. High Plains, California’s Central Valley, China, India, and elsewhere — is being pumped out “at far greater rates than it can be naturally replenished.”
The most worrisome fact: “nearly all of these underlie the word’s great agricultural regions and are primarily responsible for their high productivity.”
NASA’s satellite map shows the loss of weight height just in the past three years:
According to NASA:
“California’s Sacramento and San Joaquin river basins have lost roughly 15 km3 of total water per year since 2011 — more water than all 38 million Californians use for domestic and municipal supplies annually — over half of which is due to groundwater pumping in the Central Valley.”
Yes, of course, California is a desert. So, that isn’t helping things. But it was reformed into a thriving economy by controversial and historically corrupt irrigation scheme, and is now vital to U.S. food security.
The result of these dangerous conditions is, not surprisingly, higher commodity prices – including food and water – creating higher profits for the companies that provide these services. Privatized water could drive prices even higher.
There are storm clouds gathering, so to speak, but they aren’t bringing rain.
In July, California’s state government economic report was already warning of losses in the billions for farmers feeling the weight of drought conditions, though it claimed the national food system would be little impacted.
However, time has made that claim ring hollow. In August, Bloomberg reported on the “global reverberations” occurring because of the drought in California:
“It’s a really big deal,” Sumner said. “Some crops simply grow better here than anyplace else, and our location gives us access to markets you don’t have elsewhere.”

The success of California agriculture was built in large part on advances in irrigation that allowed the state to expand beyond wheat, which flourishes in dry climates. It’s now the U.S.’s top dairy producer and grows half the country’s fruits, vegetables and nuts.
“Water has allowed us to grow more valuable crops,” Sumner said. “Now, we have fruits and vegetables and North Dakota grows our wheat. Without irrigation, we’d be North Dakota.”

“There will be some definite changes, probably structural changes, to the entire industry” as drought persists, said American Farm Bureau Federation President Bob Stallman. “Farmers have made changes. They’ve shifted. This is what farmers do.”
Locals in California are now reporting everything from reduced availability of produce, to higher prices in restaurants and reduced hours and activity at farmer’s markets and local stores.
Most farmers have cutback on what they are growing. In many cases, that means chopping down trees, orchards and not planting as many fields:
“I was just talking to a farmer today who grows olives and almonds. Expect prices of almonds to skyrocket because they’re cutting the trees down because they don’t have enough water to keep them alive,” said Helstrom.
California is by no means the only place facing life threatening shortages. There are similarly alarming trends having all across the globe, particularly in arid and semi-arid places.
Texas ranchers and farmers have been dealing with returning dust bowl conditions in the panhandle and surrounding regions, with very difficult drought conditions and conflicting urban competition for water which strain supply.

Right now, as you read this, massive amounts of dried up and cracking dirt is strangulating nearly 40 percent of the genetically modified CORN, SOY, and BEET roots, and in some hauntingly similar way, those toxic vegetables have been slowly strangulating the masses who have been consuming them for the past 15 to 20 years.
GMO equals short term profits and shorter human life
Pesticide is now growing inside of the most popular vegetation, thanks to the last two decades of “Ag-science,” (agricultural science) figuring out how to engineer toxic pest killers as part of the plants’ genetic makeup. Now, thanks to plant immunity to RoundUp pesticide, at least five to ten times more pesticide is dumped onto the vegetation as it grows in America’s fields. This means fewer worms, fewer insects, and fewer turtles and rabbits eating away at the plants, which means higher profits for “sell out” farmers and the contributing corporations. Or does it? Human beings can’t eat pesticide or we get cancer, and so as we do “EAT CANCER,” huge pharmaceutical firms prosper, and it just further assists them in running the country, the politicians, Western Medicine and the mainstream media. Soy myth!
It’s becoming very difficult to find any soy which is truly organic. Most soy in America is genetically modified, processed, and causes extreme health detriment. Do you drink soy milk because you’re trying to avoid dairy? Switch to almond milk or rice milk right away. Why? Soybeans contain HAEMGGLUTININ, which is a clot promoting substance that causes red blood cells to clump together. This is what leads to strokes. Also, soy beans contain natural toxins or “anti-nutrients” and are considered enzyme inhibitors, because they block the action of trypsin and other enzymes that humans need for protein digestion. These can produce serious gastric distress and cause chronic deficiencies in amino acid uptake. In test animals, they cause enlargement of pathological conditions of the pancreas, including cancer.
Soy consumption also increases estrogen. Research shows that hamsters fed with GM soy were unable to have offspring and suffered a high mortality rate. Also, steer clear of soy protein isolate, found in most protein shakes and protein bars. Hexane, a petroleum solvent similar to gasoline, is used in the processing phases of soy, and remnants are found in all non-organic soy based food. Oh, but you will never find hexane on the label.
Corn plague!
Genetically modified corn does NOT feed the entire world, it poisons the entire world. Frankencorn is laden with pesticides inside and out, and America breeds it and feeds countries and most livestock this toxic, insidious food product, as if it’s just normal daily business. This drought is more like some ancient Egyptian plague for these huge biotech corporations like Monsanto and Dow. This drought is like something out of the Ten Commandments.

Anyone wondering why the biotech giant Monsanto would patent beets and prosecute organic farmers for keeping their seeds? You may be thinking that there can’t be massive consumption of beets, like there is of corn and soy, but think again. That concentrated salt (MSG) that gives you migraine headaches, causes your children to vomit, and gives infants brain damage, is mass produced and mass distributed in nearly every salty, non-organic product known to mankind. Up to 95 percent of the sugar beet crop in Idaho alone is GM, totaling 150,000 out of 167,000 acres. Half of the granulated sugar in the U.S. comes from pesticide laden sugar beets, creating UNPRECEDENTED health and environmental risks.
When did all the MSG mayhem kick into full gear? Back in 2005, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) changed the classification of Roundup Ready sugar beets from regulated to “deregulated.” Basically, the USDA and the FDA failed to conduct research into the impacts of humans eating Roundup pesticide.
The great 2012 drought – A blessing in disguise
Unfortunately, there are many innocent organic farmers suffering from the drought too. However, we don’t need GM corn, soy and beets, so let those prices rise. If corn and soy prices went up 100 percent instead of what the media is warning about (four percent), it would be a blessing. Maybe then the masses who think GM means the “evolution of farming” would stop buying cancer causing food and start buying organic food that heals the body and PREVENTS DISEASE. It’s your choice every day, every meal. Every penny you spend can feed pollution and disease, or promote nutrition.

US infrastructure, highways and power grids, failing under relentless heat wave

[NaturalNews] America is falling apart, literally, and the extreme weather events of the past few months and years surely have not helped the situation any. A recent New York Times (NYT) piece explains that various roads, bridges, and even nuclear power facilities all across the country are crumbling, or otherwise undergoing severe structural damage, as a result of the extreme heat waves that continue to sweep the nation.
Northern states, for example, which typically do not experience extreme summer heat, have fallen victim to several unusual and extreme weather events in recent years that have caused roads and highway overpasses to buckle or separate, train tracks to kink and bend, and nuclear power facility cooling pools to run hot or completely dry. Extreme rain, drought, and storm conditions have also been problematic in many other areas as well, which has led many civil engineers to reevaluate their long-held structural standards.
“The frequency of extreme weather is up over the past few years, and people who deal with infrastructure expect that to continue,” wrote Matthew L. Wald and John Schwartz for the (NYT). “Leading climate models suggest that weather-sensitive parts of the infrastructure will be seeing many more extreme episodes, along with shifts in weather patterns and rising maximum (and minimum) temperatures.”
Roadways have separated in North Carolina; highways are cracking in Texas; and drainage culverts have blown out in Vermont, all due to extreme weather events just within in the past year. A U.S. Airways jet in Virginia actually got stuck on the tarmac recently because its wheels melted into the overly-hot asphalt.
Nuclear power plants particularly throughout the Midwest and Northeast, where two “derecho” storm waves recently barreled through, have also been having issues with their cooling pools as high temperatures are causing cooling water to exceed maximum allowable temperatures. In Chicago, for instance, a twin-unit nuclear plant reportedly had to obtain special clearance to continue operating, as its cooling water exceeded the 100-degree maximum by two degrees.
US continues to be stricken by severe drought conditions
Bloomberg reports that nuclear power production across the U.S. has been exceptionally low overall this year as a result of severe drought and heat conditions. According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, nearly 64 percent of the entire land area of the lower 48 states is experiencing moderate-to-severe drought conditions, which is having devastating consequences on both infrastructure and food crops.
Admittedly, America’s infrastructure has already been in decline for many years. But this fact makes the weather-induced damage particularly disturbing, especially in light of the recent grid failure in India, which left hundreds of millions of people with power. This particular disaster appears to be an omen of what is soon to come in the U.S. if conditions do not improve.

[NaturalNews] A study presented at the Days of Defense Against Environmental Hazards in Russia has unveiled once again the implicit dangers associated with the consumption of genetically-modified organisms (GMOs). According to Voice of Russia, scientists from the National Association for Gene Security and the Institute of Ecological and Evolutional Problems discovered that animals fed GMOs as part of their normal diet eventually develop the inability to reproduce.
A shocking revelation; the study is one of several that has identified a link between GMO consumption and infertility in recent years. And because it was conducted independently of the biotechnology industry, it came to far different conclusions than have most of the studies offered up for mainstream consumption in defense of GMOs.
Using hamsters as the test subjects, scientists observed that consumption of GM soybeans, which have never been a part of these creatures’ normal diets, tended to slow sexual maturity and gradually eliminate the ability to reproduce. After several generations, hamsters consuming the “Frankensoy” eventually lost their innate ability to reproduce.
“We selected several groups of hamsters, kept them in pairs in cells and gave them ordinary food as always,” said Dr. Alexei Surov, one of the authors of the study. “We did not add anything for one group but the other was fed with soya that contained no GM components, while the third group with some content of Genetically Modified Organisms and the fourth one with increased amount of GMO.”
Dr. Surov and his team then monitored the various groups of cubs, including their rates of growth and birthing frequencies, and compared their findings to the cubs’ diets. After several generations of cubs breeding with each other, the team observed that those cubs who ate GMOs as part of their diet eventually became completely sterile.
“[W]e noticed quite a serious effect when we selected new pairs from [the] cubs and continued to feed them as before,” added Dr. Surov. “These pairs’ growth rate was slower and reached their sexual maturity slowly. When we got some of their cubs, we formed the new pairs of the third generation. We failed to get cubs from these pairs, which were fed with GM foodstuffs. It was proved that these pairs lost their ability to give birth to their cubs.”
Will widespread GMO consumption make future generations of humans infertile?
An Austrian study uncovered similar harm in mice that consumed GM corn. An immediate consequence among the mice eating the “Frankencorn” was that their offspring weighed less than normal, and overall litter size became smaller. After three or four generations, mice who came from GMO-eating parents and grandparents became completely infertile. (http://www.naturalnews.com)
Farmers across the U.S. have also reported infertility among pigs and cows that consume GM feed. And in India, an investigatory team observed infertility and other serious problems among buffalo that were consuming GM cottonseed.

Corn, a crop most likely to be genetically modified – with 70 percent of corn engineered simply to drown in Monsanto’s best-selling herbicide Roundup – is casting off its GMO contaminants into surrounding waterways, and likely making it into your drinking water. According to researchers, the insecticides modified into the corn are being detected in streams up to 500 meters away from corn farms, and quite possibly further.
The research was conducted in the states of Iowa, Illinois, and Indiana, where corn fields are abundant. Scientists found the bacterial protein washed off the corn and directly into the streams. While they won’t say for certain what this means for human health, the consensus is that it can’t be good.
According to U.K.’s Independent, U.S. corn has a gene from the Bacillus thuriengensis (BT) bacterium inserted into it to repel bugs. This gene produced the Cry1Ab protein, which “has insecticidal properties.” It’s this protein that is being found in the water system.

Despite this and other troubling news about GMO crops, the United States remains steadfast in its protection against agri-giants like Monsanto, preferring to please them rather than protect the people.
In 2009, more than 85% of American corn crops were genetically modified, but that number has likely increased since that time. All the while, other countries in Europe don’t even allow the GMO corn or at the very minimum label food sources that contain GMO ingredients. No similar protections are provided in the United States.
